How we find jobs

firsthires.live lists open roles at privately held startups. It reads public company and job pages, then sends candidates to the company's own careers page. firsthires.live does not host applications, accounts, or alerts.

The crawler identifies itself as firsthires.live/1.0 (+https://firsthires.live/bot; rossw@anotheragent.xyz). It checks robots.txt before fetching HTML and keeps that answer for 24 hours. It stays near one request per second per host, slows down when a site asks it to, and stops a source whose response shape changes.

Sources are Y Combinator's public company index, venture-firm portfolio job boards, new SEC Form D filings, and the monthly Hacker News "Who is hiring?" thread. Personal email addresses and phone numbers are stripped and not stored. Comment text from Hacker News is not republished.

Wellfound, LinkedIn, Indeed, and Glassdoor are not crawled. The crawler does not log in, solve CAPTCHAs, or bypass bot protection.

Update or remove a listing

Email rossw@anotheragent.xyz from a company address and include the company website. We will mark the company do-not-list and hide its roles. This page lives at https://firsthires.live/bot.
